SONG NGU PAGODA Song Ngu pagoda is located on Hon Ngu island in Cua Lo town (Nghe An province). The pagoda was built around the 14th century, over the centuries, the temple was affected by wars and natural disasters. In 2005, Song Ngu pagoda was restored and became a spiritual destination for visitors every occasion to Cua Lo town. At present, there are still vestiges of the past at the pagoda such as the old pagoda foundation with hundreds of years old tree, pagoda well and bibliographic documents recording the bell of Song Ngu pagoda. In front of the pagoda, there are 02 Red Barringtonia (Barringtonia acutangula) that are said to be 600 hundred years old with luxuriant branches and leaves grow on 2 giant roots. In the middle of the pagoda is a Ngoc well with a source of fresh and cool water, used to cook the famous delicious Song Ngu wine. Especially, archaeological artifacts related to the pagoda were discovered right at the old pagoda foundation such as terracotta brick towers, celadon plates, yin and yang tiles. SONG NGU PAGODA

Song Ngu pagoda is located on Hon Ngu island in Cua Lo town (Nghe An province). The pagoda was built around the 14th century, over the centuries, the temple was affected by wars and natural disasters. In 2005, Song Ngu pagoda was restored and became a spiritual destination for visitors every occasion to Cua Lo town.

At present, there are still vestiges of the past at the pagoda such as the old pagoda foundation with hundreds of years old tree, pagoda well and bibliographic documents recording the bell of Song Ngu pagoda. In front of the pagoda, there are 02 Red Barringtonia (Barringtonia acutangula) that are said to be 600 hundred years old with luxuriant branches and leaves grow on 2 giant roots. In the middle of the pagoda is a Ngoc well with a source of fresh and cool water, used to cook the famous delicious Song Ngu wine.

Especially, archaeological artifacts related to the pagoda were discovered right at the old pagoda foundation such as terracotta brick towers, celadon plates, yin and yang tiles.

Although Song Ngu pagoda has been restored and embellished on the old background, it still retains the traditional pagoda architecture with wooden frame, yin and yang tile roof, terracotta tiled floor, its area is 11,665m2, with construction items such as pagoda wharf, road, garden, management board's house, three-way gate, courtyard, Right house, Laft house and two main buildings are workship hall, upper hall.

Like many other pagodas, Song Ngu pagoda worships Buddha according to the Mahayana sect and also worships a god of the Tran dynasty,  Sat Hai Dai Vuong Hoang Ta Thon - a marine general of Nghe An, who had merit in fighting Nguyen Mong invaders.

In 2011, Song Ngu Pagoda was recognized by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee as a provincial historical and cultural relic.
