LOCATIONS COMMEMORATING THE EVENT OF UNCLE HO'S VISIT TO DONG HIEU FARM (DECEMBER 10, 1961)

 

On December 10, 1961, Dong Hieu Farm, Nghia Dan district, now known as Thai Hoa town was honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh to visit, during his second visit to his hometown. This was a typical production unit of the state-owned economy at that time, and was one of the leading agricultural production flags in the North. Here, Uncle Ho visited, encouraged and kindly advised cadres, party members, workers and people about improving tools to increase labor productivity. Engraved with his advice, the Farm team together with the people of Nghia Dan district have strived to build a more and more developed homeland.

The cluster of relics commemorating Uncle Ho's visit to Dong Hieu Farm was ranked as a national monument by by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Decision No. 4479/QD-BVHTTDL on December 23, 2015. The cluster of relics includes 4 locations associated with President Ho Chi Minh's activities when visiting Dong Hieu Farm: Dong Hieu Farm Guest House, Uncle Ho's Fish Pond, Farm Stadium, Coffee Lot 119. The monument sites are located quite close to each other and close to Ho Chi Minh Road - the arterial traffic road, which has an extremely important position in the country. Alternating between the monuments are rolling hills and forests, creating a poetic and interesting beauty.

Farm Stadium

The stadium is a place where Uncle Ho had an intimate talk with officials and workers of the Farm and the people of Nghia Dan district on December 10, 1961.

Previously, the stadium was a large and flat land with an area of ​​2.5ha. The South borders Road 48, the North borders the coffee processing area, the East borders cultural house and the West borders residential areas. The solemn stage where Uncle Ho stood and talked with people was covered with earth 0.8m high, 0.4m wide, 3.4m long.

Currently, the stadium only has an area of 7,598.7m2, which is limited by 4 sides: the South still borders road 48, the North borders Ho Chi Minh Road, the East and West borders residential areas.

Coffee Lot 119

Coffee lot 119 has an area of ​​4,664m2, belonging to Nai Sinh coffee hill. Previously, Coffee Lot 119 was selected by the farm as a site to grow Tibica coffee with high yield and good quality. The outside of the coffee lot, bordering the West road, was erected by the local government a signboard with a height of 1.5m, the content "The place that Uncle Ho visited Coffee Lot 119 on December 10, 1961”.

Farm Guest House

The farm guest house is now located in the premises of  Dong Hieu Commune People's Committee headquarters. The work items in the premises of the guesthouse are as follows: culvert, guiding stele and guest house.

The guest house is used as a place to display pictures of Uncle Ho during his visit to Dong Hieu Farm, images of senior leaders of the Party and State visiting the Farm and activities of Dong Hieu commune since its establishment. Particularly, the bed 1.2m wide, 1.8m long made of wood and a flower blanket 1.2m wide and 1.8m long made of industrial textiles that Uncle used to take a lunch break, are now kept in the traditional house of Dong Hieu Farm.

Uncle Ho's Fish Pond

Uncle Ho's fish pond is located next to the Farm Guest House, surrounded by residential areas and inter-village roads, the pond has an area of ​​18 933.4m2 with clear blue water, separated by a road in the middle, depth from 5-:-6m, the sides planted trees. The sides are planted with trees. Currently, the pond is stocking fish such as carp, sesame, tilapia, etc.

Uncle Ho's visit to Dong Hieu farm at that time had a great influence on the Farm in particular and Nghia Dan district in general. Because this showed the Party and Government's interest in the state-owned economic model at Dong Hieu Farm. This is a worthy recognition for the efforts of staffs and workers of the Farm, and also an act of encouragement not only for officers and workers of the Dong Hieu Farm but also for officers and workers at other Farms, and farmers in Nghia Dan district try harder to build socialism. Uncle Ho's time to visit Dong Hieu Farm (from 9:30 am to 15 pm) is considered the longest compared to other locations, once again affirming that the state-owned economic model here has a strong influence.
