PHU NHUAN COMMUNAL HOUSE AND HOANG TRAN FAMILY-CLAN ANCESTRAL HOUSE – DO LUONG DISTRICT
Phu Nhuan communal house and Hoang Tran family-clan ancestral house in Dang Son commune, Do Luong district.
The communal house was built by local people in 1854 in Phu Nhuan village, was the center of cultural activities of the land of Do Dang, rich in patriotic and academic traditions. Currently, the communal house is located next to Highway 7, facing the road. The communal house's architecture follows the four-pillar style, has 3 compartments, curved roofs, the beams are carved with sophisticated patterns, with the theme "two dragons adoring the moon" and "four sacred animals" (dragon, unicorn, turtle, phoenix).
Hoang Tran family-clan ancestral house in Dang Lam village, was built in 1884 to worship the ancestral god Mac Dang Luong, who had merit in fighting the enemy to defend the country and establish the land of Do Dang. The ancestral house had three halls: Lower hall, Middle hall and Upper hall, in addition, there were auxiliary works such as Tam Quan Gate, Tac Mon Gate, etc. At the communal house, the king's ordination was still preserved, bestowed upon Mac Dang Luong as " supreme deity" and his wife - Mrs. Mai Thi Hue as "Thượng, Thượng, Thượng đẳng thần".
Phu Nhuan communal house and Hoang Tran family-clan ancestral house is a place to organize donations to support the anti-French movement of Phan Dinh Phung, a place to open a teaching school, a place to gather young people going abroad in the Dong Du movement. During the Soviet Nghe Tinh movement 1930-1931, this place was chosen by Executive Committee of the Central Party Committee and the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee as a place to meet, print, hide documents, hang the Party flag, gather the people to fight and was a public workplace of the Soviet government. Hoang Tran family-clan ancestral house was also a working base of the Party during the period 1936-1939 and 1941-1945, a warehouse for weapons and logistics for the resistance war against the French in the period of 1947-1954.
During two wars of resistance against the French and against the US, Phu Nhuan communal house was the headquarters of the Commander of the Inter-zone and the Viet-Laos Border Administration. There were many meetings here to prepare forces to respond promptly to the campaign of Lower Laos, Central Laos, Upper Laos and the battlefields of the Northwest, Inter-Zone V.
With those great historical values, Ministry of Culture and Information issued Decision No. 2379 on September 5, 1994 recognizing Phu Nhuan communal house and Hoang Tran family-clan ancestral house as a national relic.
