Hai Giang 1 Fish sauce craft village in Nghi Hai ward, Cua Lo town, Nghe An province, is one of the craft villages producing fish sauce with a long tradition in Cua Lo town. In 2010, the craft village was granted a certificate by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, and granted a patent for industrial design in 2013 by Department of Intellectual Property. Continuously from 2014 to 2020, Craft Village was voted as the Typical Rural Industrial Products at the regional level.

All Hai Giang 1 fish sauce production facilities use anchovies and sea salt as ingredients. They all share the same process and must comply with very strict requirements, ensuring clean, pure fish sauce with high protein and nutritional content, no additives, no preservatives. The time from the beginning of processing until the finished product is from 12-15 months. 78 households making fish sauce in the village are 78 fish sauce production facilities of the craft village. On the label of the product, in addition to the Hai Giang 1 traditional fish sauce brand, it also shows the name of the producer, phone number, protein content, preservation method and expiry date.

The most special product of the craft village is the lowland fish sauce (the kind of fish sauce that is buried underground). The longer the fish sauce is buried in the ground, the more delicious it is. The process to create this special fish sauce is also very laborious: after ripening, it is poured into jars to dry for two to three months, then filtered and bottled and brought to the ground to avoid sunlight. Lower earth fish sauce has a darker color than cockroach wings, more fragrant than regular fish sauce.

 Annually, the output of fish processed is about 450 tons, the output of fish sauce is about 20 thousand liters. The total revenue of the craft village is from 20-25 billion VND, the average income from fish sauce is 6 million VND/person/month. Local people thanks to making fish sauce that life is more and more prosperous. Hopefully one day not far, Hai Giang 1 traditional fish sauce will be available on all stalls in large and small supermarkets domestically and internationally.
