ECO-COMMUNITY TOURISM SITE IN XIENG VILLAGE - CON CUONG DISTRICT

Con Cuong is considered as the leading district in the development of the community-based tourism model in Nghe An. In recent years, the district has also focused on developing tourism in association with preserving national cultural values and economic development. Currently, Con Cuong has 4 villages to build community tourism models, including Xieng village (Mon Son commune). Community and eco-tourism site at Xieng village - Pha Lai - Giang river was recognized by Nghe An Provincial People's Committee as a provincial tourist destination according to Decision No. 3022/QD-UBND on August 18, 2021.

Mon Son commune is known as a land rich in tourism potential, with majestic and charming mountains, Pu Mat primeval forest, and the poetic John River with famous cool fish specialties and the poetic scenery of Pha Lai. The Thai people in Mon Son still retain their traditional customs and practices imbued with their identity and dishes with a mountain-like flavor. Promoting the potential of being favored by nature and exploiting the advantages of Mon Son, the authorities of Con Cuong district, Mon Son commune have identified tourism development as an important task, especially eco-tourism and community tourism, helping people have more sources of income and improve their lives.  Xieng village is the place chosen to build a community tourist site.

In Xieng village, visitors can visit the brocade weaving village with rich and diverse products. Visitors will be transformed into Thai girls on the loom, enjoy ethnic dishes and experience activities in the stilt houses of the Thai people. In addition, visitors can also enjoy special cultural performances, folk songs and dances of ethnic minorities in brilliant costumes; experience local production activities such as harvesting rice, picking oranges, transplanting contests, grilling fish, visiting fairs...

Pha Lai - Giang River tourist area is famous for its charming and poetic landscape. 

Pha Lai Dam was built in 2000. This is one of the largest irrigation works in Western Nghe An. The name of Pha Lai also has a special meaning, associated with the natural features here. In Thai language, Pha Lai means Len flower on the rock. At Pha Lai tourist area, there are precarious rocky mountains with many species of vines. The magical arrangement of nature creates colorful bands of flowers on the rocks. Therefore, in addition to the main purpose of serving the farming and living needs of the people, Pha Lai also becomes one of the attractive destinations for tourists. Currently, Pha Lai eco-tourism area is gradually being completed with interesting and unique entertainment, dining and resting services such as: Kayaking down the river or up the river by motorboat. Experience the thrills with the double Zipline slide. In particular, visitors can travel by motorboat from Pha Lai dam, up the Giang river to the river bathing area and continue to the village where the Dan Lai ethnic group lives (located in the core area of Pu Mat National Park). The only ethnic group found in Con Cuong.

Here, visitors have the opportunity to learn the unique customs that are still being preserved, and at the same time, experience production activities and discover the unique cultural features of the Dan Lai people.
