COMMEMORATION OF TRUNG BON VICTORY

Truong Bon is a steep pass about 5km long on Thung Nua mountain range, located on the strategic route 15A, also known as road 30, running through the territory of My Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province. 

During the war of resistance against the US, Truong Bon was a strategic route, connecting traffic to the North providing support to the South. The US Air Force put a lot of force to destroy fiercely, turning Truong Bon into a "dead coordinate". On the morning of 31 October 1968, 13 young volunteer soldiers of the steel squad, the suicide squad of Company 317 - Team 65 - General Team of Youth Volunteers against the US, to save the country in Nghe An province had heroically sacrificed themselves while on duty.

 With gratitude and remembrance to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed themselves at Truong Bon, this place was built into a National Historic Site in 1996. The collective of 14 young volunteer soldiers of Truong Bon belongs to Company 317, Team 65, General Team of Youth Volunteers against the US, to save the country in Nghe An province  was conferred the title as Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the President in 2008.

Truong Bon has become a red address for traditional patriotic education for young people, a cultural and spiritual address to welcome thousands of compatriots and soldiers here to pay tribute and pay respects to heroes and martyrs.

In 1996, Truong Bon was recognized as a National Historical-Cultural Relic. In 2008, a collective of 14 young volunteer soldiers of Truong Bon was conferred the title as Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

On the evening of 29 October every year, at Truong Bon National Historic Site in My Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An provincial People's Committee organizes the celebration of the Truong Bon Victory and the art program on "Truong Bon - Legendary Epic", paying tribute to the heroic martyrs and young volunteers who fell on this legendary road.
