KING MAI TEMPLE FESTIVAL – NAM DAN DISTRICT

          The relic cluster of King Mai Hac De in Nam Dan district includes a temple in Nam Dan town, a mausoleum in Van Dien commune and his mother's grave in Nam Thai commune. The temple was built in the same place that was formerly the center of the headquarters of King Mai's insurgent army, and at the same time the palace was the capital of the Mai dynasty at that time.

King Mai temple festival is held every year to commemorate the merits of King Mai; at the same time, review the heroic spirit and indomitable spirit of Hoan Chau uprising against the domination of the Duong Dynasty, gaining independence for the nation for nearly 10 years from 713 to 722. This is also an opportunity to educate patriotic traditions, arouse pride and national pride among people of all walks of life; contribute to introduce and promote the people and the land of Nam Dan "sacred land with extraordinary people", thereby contributing to the economic, cultural and social development of the locality.

In addition to the ceremony such as the inauguration ceremony, the reporting ceremony, the water procession, the god procession, the great sacrifice ceremony, the incense offering ceremony, the festival part with many traditional folk games interwoven between cultural and sports activities such as drum performance, dragon - lion dance, camping, "chicken sticky rice" contest, flower lantern festival, Vi Giam folk song contest, wrestling festival, boat race, volleyball competition, card chess .. . attracts thousands of people to join.
