XUAN HOA TEMPLE – HOANG MAI TOWN

          Xuan Hoa Temple is located in Quynh Xuan Ward, Hoang Mai Town, Nghe An Province.

In the past, Xuan Hoa Temple was built to worship Luu Kiem. The temple's miracles and local folk legends said: "Luu Kiem, himself is Danh Tien. He was born in Quynh Luu, was healthy, studied well, passed "Hương Cống" (inter-provincial exam) of the Le dynasty. He was sent to Ai Lao (Laos) mission and once plotted to kill tigers. Once he went through Xuoc mountain (in Quynh Lap commune) and met a tiger, he was able to kill the tiger, but because the tiger was too big, he was injured. He ran to La Man bridge (Quynh Thien ward) and died. The villagers are grateful to the man who once killed the tiger to protect production and keep the villagers alive, they built a temple for him”.

Later, the People brought the 12 ancestral tablets "Trieu Co" (who had openly reclaimed land and founded Xuan Hoa village) to worship at the temple. Every year on the occasion of the beginning of spring (the opening ceremony of summer) and the March 11 (lunar calendar) Blessing Ceremony, Xuan Hoa villagers organize a procession of the ancestral tablets from the temple to Ru Hi (their place of origin), and then carry it around the village back to the temple.

Xuan Hoa Temple is a cultural and spiritual work to commemorate and appreciate the merits of heroes who helped people protect the country, reclaim and establish villages, creating crowded villages and rich fields. The temple has been classified as a national monument by the state. Currently, the temple is being well preserved and promoted by the local government and the people, descendants of the clans.
