The temple faces Southeast, is located on a cool, high ground, with many old & dense trees, architectural structure in the style of Triangle word, including 3 buildings: Lower Palace, Middle Palace and Upper Palace. Experiencing the changes of history, the Lower Palace is no more.

During the Xo Viet Nghe Tinh climax (1930-1931), Thuong Temple was chosen as a place of secret activities of the Party in the locality, a place for meetings, printing of documents, and the establishment of Phu Nghia Thuong village's first Party cell and also the place where rallies and demonstrations to seize power was taken place; the venue for speeches, to hang the Party flag in the wars to participate to the climax of the Nghe Tinh Xo Viet. In particular, in the period 1933-1945, Thuong Temple was the place where many meetings were held,  mass organizations were established to prepare for the General Uprising.

During the French Resistance and American Resistance, Thuong Temple was the warehouse for storing weapons and goods of the State, the place where the farewell ceremony took place to send hundreds of children to fight the enemy to save the country and gain independence, freedom for the nation.

Like other villages in Nghe An, Thuong Temple is the place to hold many festivals associated with Phu Nghia village such as Ky Phuc, Khai Ha, Doan Ngo... On the festival day, the entire villagers gather at the temple to organize the rituals and entertainment. Every 12 years, the villagers of Phu Nghia hold a celebration and act out a battle scene on the full moon day of February to commemorate the merits of the Duke Truong Dac Phu.

In particular, in 2015, the Thuong Temple Festival was solemnly organized by local people on a large scale. In addition to the traditional ceremony conducted in a solemn way in the temple; Outside the temple, the festival was also very exciting and rich with many folk games such as wrestling, swinging, playing card chess, playing human chess, tug of war, stick pushing, playacting, singing folk songs, Traditional operetta, Cai Luong, etc .... not only attract people inside and outside the village, but also the children of the homeland from all parts of the country, visitors from all over the world to attend.

The presence of the Temple together with historical documents and precious artifacts preserved at the relic, such as: the book records the original and the legend of the gods in the temple and shrine; king’s order; long throne; wooden sign engraved with name, date of birth, date of death, title (if any) of the deceased, placed in a place of worship; couplets, great letters... are authentic and valuable proofs to help us better understand the social context, cultural life, the revolutionary will of a countryside in Nghe An in general and Quynh Nghia's homeland in particular on the way to build and develop the country.

In 1996, Thuong Temple was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) as a national historical-cultural relic.
