HO SY DUONG'S TOMB AND TEMPLE – QUYNH LUU DISTRICT
Ho Sy Duong's tomb and temple is an ancient architectural work that has existed for hundreds of years, currently storing many valuable artifacts and documents. This is a place to worship and remember the merits of famous artist Ho Sy Duong.
Ho Sy Duong from Hoan Hau village (now known as Quynh Doi commune, Quynh Luu district), was born into a family with a tradition of Confucianism. After passing, he held many different positions. In any position, Ho Sy Duong also made positive contributions, contributing to the revival of the Le dynasty. In the military field, although they did not directly go to war, in all four times of the Southern and Northern wars of King Le, Ho Sy Duong consulted and deployed troops to help the Le Dynasty win. In the field of diplomacy, he was sent to China 06 times and always successfully completed his tasks, contributing to preserving the friendly and diplomatic relations between two countries.
However, posterity knows Ho Sy Duong not because he was a successful great mandarin, but above all because of a noble personality, a talented intellectual, and an outstanding scholar. He has produced many valuable works with diverse content and genres, unfortunately, most of his works have been lost. His erudition was appreciated by the ambassador Chu Xan of the Qing Dynasty on a par with Nguyen Binh Khiem, Luong The Vinh, and Mac Dinh Chi.
Throughout his life of work and dedication, Ho Si Duong has made many contributions to his homeland and country in the fields of politics, military, culture, diplomacy... Legend has it that he was given 4 words "Thái Sơn Bắc Đẩu" (who has talent and reputation as high as Thai Son mountain and bright as the Ursa Major) by King Le (the great self hanging in the middle of Ho Si Duong temple) in which, Thai Son was the mountain that the ancients considered the highest, the Ursa Major is why the ancients thought it was the biggest, to evaluate his merits.
After his death, Ho Sy Duong was honored by people in many places, especially Quynh Luu - his hometown, was honored as the village's tutelary god and established temples, communal houses and shrines to worship.
Ho Sy Duong's tomb and temple was classified as a national monument by Ministry of Culture and Information in 1997.
