QUY LINH TEMPLE FESTIVAL

Quy Linh Temple is located in Quynh Luong commune, the front facing the sea was built in 1276, originally just a thatched temple worshiping the monk - who saved the lives of the mother and daughter of the Queen of Nam Tong. The temple consists of 4 buildings, carved with the four sacred animals and four kinds of trees. In the temple, there are many objects such as ancestral tablet, Statue, dragon nail palanquin, cult palanquin... In 2014, Quy Linh temple was recognized as a provincial historical relic.

Quy Linh Temple Festival is an annual activity held by Quynh Luong commune on January 20 and 21 (lunar calendar). In which, the 20th day includes sacrifices and festivals, with sports games attracting a large number of people to participate such as inter-commune men's and women's volleyball, men and women tug, human chess, etc. The unique feature of Quy Linh Temple  is the connection with Con Temple from history to legend. The Oi running custom of the Con temple festival is now associated with and originated from the Quy Linh temple festival.

The main part of the ceremony was held on the morning of the 21st day with the following contents: the procession of the tablet from the temple to the foot of Quy Linh mountain with the meaning of letting the god go to enjoy it, then taking him back to the temple. The part of the ceremony includes the  ceremony of worshiping gods, the ceremony to pray for peace for the people in the village. The hamlets of Quynh Luong commune all make offerings with the wish of a year of favorable rain and wind, national peace and prosperity.

Quy Linh Temple Festival is a fine traditional cultural activity that has been handed down for hundreds of years, showing the unique cultural identity of the People of the Sea, attracting a large number of locals and tourists from far and near to attend.
