Phan Boi Chau's birth name is Phan Van San, alias Sao Nam, was born on December 26, 1867 (ie, December 01 of the year of Dinh Cat) in Sa Nam village (now known as Nam Dan town). To be born when the country was under French colonial rule, every day, witnessing the misery and enslavement of the People, in the depths of his heart, he soon formed patriotic thoughts. Since he was a litter boy (Nho San), the Vi Giam songs "How do you know if the water of the Lam River is clear or cloudy, how can you know if your life will be humiliating or glorious?" had nurtured the will to fight in the person of Phan. Until he became Giai San "a famous name in first table in the literary village", that his spirit of struggle became more and more boiling and urged Phan Boi Chau to "have to underestimate the reputation, have to contribute to the country". Since then, Phan Boi Chau has dedicated everything to the nation and compatriots.
With the policy of saving the country in the direction of violence, Phan Boi Chau established Duy Tan Hoi (1904), Vietnam Quang Phuc Hoi (1912) to gather forces to fight violence and ask for external aid. Among those movements, which emerged above all and left the most profound impressions was still the Dong Du movement with the spirit of "đồng châu, đồng chủng, đồng văn". Although the Dong Du movement was not successful, it created the foundation for the changes of our country in the early twentieth century; contributed to training intellectuals who were ready to accept the revolutionary path, and many later became key figures of the Vietnamese Revolution such as Ho Tung Mau, Vuong Thuc Oanh, Ho Hoc Lam, Nguyen Duc Cong, and Nguyen. Thuc Duong... In particular, this is an important link, a milestone marking the friendship between Vietnam and Japan in the field of culture - education and so far the Dong Du movement still retains its value in the development of national development industry.
Not only a patriot, a revolutionary, Phan Boi Chau is also a great culturalist with thousands of works, covering many genres, enriching Vietnamese literature and arousing patriotism and spirituality. fighting spirit of the people of all classes. Phan Boi Chau died on October 29, 1940 (ie, September 29, Year of the Xin Dragon) in Hue, and he was evaluated by President Ho Chi Minh as "a hero, angel, one who sacrificed himself for national independence, to be worshiped by 20 million people in slavery”.
